Tension Headache Medication

Plenty of people suffer with bad headaches but few are aware of the many different types of headaches there are.  Having an understanding of the type of headache you are experiencing will help you to find a suitable method to treat it.

One form of headache that causes a lot of discomfort is Tension Headaches.   A Tension Headache can last for up to 6 hours and feels like your head is being squeezed at the temples, usually both sides.  There is no known reason for tension headaches but it is believed to be bought on by tension created in the neck and shoulders of the sufferer.  If you experience a tension headache more than 15 times in one month then you may be suffering from a chronic form of tension headaches and it is advisable that you seek help from your doctor or medical practitioner.

For those that have the occasional tension headache, massage is often recommended, especially around the neck and shoulders.  Gentle massage in these areas can provide great relief when you are suffering with a tension headache.

Other treatments for tension headaches are Ibuprofen and Aspirin; these will both help to numb the pain of a tension headache but will not alleviate the cause.  It is advisable to not overuse these medications, as you will find that overtime, you will become immune to their effects.

If you think you may be suffering from chronic Tension Headaches consult your doctor or medical practitioner for help and advice.
